NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jenning County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has announced a memorial service for K-9 Axel who passed away on January 4. The police dog was Chief Deputy Cody Low’s canine partner.
JCSO will honor the K-9’s life in a private service this Friday, January 24, from 5-7 p.m. at Dove, Sharp, and Rudicel Funeral Home.
For community members who wish to pay their respects, K-9 Axel will be escorted to the sheriff’s office at 4:30 p.m. that evening. The procession will travel south on State Road 3, then South on North State Street, through town, to the Sheriff’s Office, where Axel’s final call will be broadcast. You should stand along North State Street.
Chief Deputy Cody Low’s patrol vehicle will be parked at the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office as a public memorial. Citizens can leave public tributes from 8 p.m. Friday, January 24, until 4 p.m. Monday, January 27. A collection box or slightly open window will be available for sympathy cards, children’s drawings, or other remembrance items.
If you want to donate in memory of K-9 Axel, contributions may be mailed to or dropped off at the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office. Include a note specifying that the donation is intended for the Jennings County K-9 Fund to ensure proper allocation.
