COLUMBUS, Ind. – United Way of Bartholomew County (UWBC) will host its annual Day of Caring on Thursday, May 16, bringing together community members and local businesses for a full day of volunteer service.
The Day of Caring connects volunteers directly with non-profit agencies and community organizations to complete essential projects. About 530 volunteer slots are open. Registration for this year’s UWBC event opens on April 29.
Volunteers can choose from several tasks, including planting flowers, mulching, painting, and more. Projects are available for every skill level.
This program plays a critical role in helping non-profits operate more efficiently. By completing physical and administrative tasks, volunteers free up agency staff to focus on their core missions of providing food, shelter, health care, education, and other essential services to community members.
UWBC staff encourages individuals, families, teams, and workplace groups to participate. Starting this Tuesday, volunteers should visit uwbarthco.org, click on the “Volunteer” tab, and select “Day of Caring” to complete the registration process and to pick their projects.
“The Day of Caring unites hundreds of volunteers in completing high-impact work across Bartholomew County,” said Alicia Monroe, Director of the Volunteer Action Center at United Way of Bartholomew County. “The projects our volunteers complete directly support non-profit agencies.”
