COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Republican Ladies League presented four one-time scholarship awards of $1000 each on Wednesday to selected recipients.
The scholarships are an important function of the Ladies League, and the recipients are young students involved in many extracurricular, community, and school activities.
Submission requirements are that the applicant pursue a college degree at a two- or four-year Indiana college or university, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be involved in extracurricular school, community, or political activities, pass a five-question political history test, complete a separate one-page essay, and be a resident of Bartholomew County.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:
- Samantha Holzer, daughter of Denny and Christy Holzer, from Hauser Jr. Sr. High School and attending Indiana Wesleyan University to study Education
- Katherine Lynn London of Columbus North High School, the daughter of Tony and Amy London, will attend Indiana University Bloomington to study Law
- Genea Martoccia, daughter of John and Aimee Martoccia, from Columbus East High School and attending Indiana University-Columbus to study Psychology
- Jonathan Ruch of Columbus East High School, the son of David and Carla Ruch, will attend Purdue University to study Mechanical Engineering
