COLUMBUS, Ind. – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced that there will be a Weather Radio outage due to a mandatory system upgrade starting on Monday, April 28, and continuing through at least Wednesday, April 30.
Officials say the outage could be extended into Thursday or Friday.
All of the NOAA weather radios, including National Weather Service alerts that cover central Indiana, will be off the air for the entire time that the system is down.
There are other ways to receive weather alerts in the event of severe weather during the outage.
They include:
- Local radio stations (QMIX 107.3, KORN Country 100.3, MOJO 102.9) and their websites
- Mobile Weather Apps
- Bartholomew County Alert System (Everbridge)
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mobile App
- American Red Cross Mobile App
