COLUMBUS, Ind. – Another round of severe weather is possible Wednesday into early Thursday morning for south-central Indiana.
The National Weather Service says the area is at “Moderate Risk.” A Wind Advisory has been issued from Wednesday at 8 a.m. to Thursday at 1 a.m., and the Flood Watch continues through Sunday morning for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Shelby, Decatur, and Brown Counties.
Heavy Rainfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning on saturated soils will likely lead to flash flooding. One to three inches of rain are expected during this time.
Multiple periods of thunderstorms are expected Wednesday morning through Saturday night, with the Wednesday afternoon/night storms being the most severe. Large hail, damaging straight line winds with gusts of 70 to 80 mph, tornadoes, and flash flooding are possible.
NWS advises residents to be weather aware: have multiple ways to receive warnings, know where to shelter at home or work, have cell phones charged, make sure radios and flashlights have fresh batteries, and be cautious when driving. Motoists should be aware of potential downed power lines and trees, and should not drive through moving or standing water.
