RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. – A head-on crash in eastern Ripley County, on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., claimed the life of a 62-year-old man.
The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post, indicated that a mini-van, driven by George A. Frith, 62, of Milan, was westbound in the 8000 Block of East State Road 350. For an unknown reason, his vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound SUV, driven by Shelby L. Young, age 31, of Aurora.
The vehicles collided nearly head-on in the eastbound lane. As a result of the collision, Frith sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office. Young and an infant in her vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
State Road 350 was closed for approximately four hours for crash investigation and cleanup. Toxicology results are pending and the accident remains under investigation.
