NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Jaycie, a flat-coated retriever, was purchased by Jackson/Jennings County Prosecutors and Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and then donated to the Indiana DNR Law Enforcement Division.
These agencies needed a K9 to fill a void and be a useful tool for our communities. Zach Walker named her Jaycie, acknowledging the communities that purchased her. This spring, Jaycie graduated from K9 school and has since completed nearly 200 trainings and deployments.
She has been called to service in approximately a dozen counties and has been a part of tracking felons and lost individuals. She has also helped recover important evidence in serious crimes. On Monday in Jennings County, K-9 Jaycie recovered a gun that had been used in a crime and hidden.
